Edifice 129

edifice: (i) a large, imposing building. (ii) A complex system of beliefs

In a surreal future world where a sinister force requires everyone to “keep the silence”, the isolated residents of Edifice 129 struggle to maintain their sanity and sense of self

A project from the Arc Film Festival’s ‘Collaboration Across Borders’ (CAB) initiative. Supported by the Hessen Kultural Fund in Mainz, Germany, and later by Absolute Post and Onsight in London, UK this film was written and filmed during the Covid 19 Pandemic lockdowns.

Four directors, with one mission – to create a film that reflects upon the psychological and political ramifications of the pandemic and to do so as a truly joint venture, with elements being filmed in Germany, UK and Malta, then cut into each other to create one narrative that feels like it was shot in one location, despite the directors never having met each other in person.

It was a hugely challenging and lengthy process, but also a deeply satisfying one and out of it has come not only a beautiful, meaningful film but also new friendships and creative partnerships. We are all so looking forward to meeting each other at a festival premiere soon.
